The Joburg Open was a professional men's golf tournament on the South African Sunshine Tour . The event was founded in 2007 and was played in December at the Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club in Johannesburg , South Africa . The last event took place in December 2017.
The tournament was held in the first two rounds on the west and east course, with a large field of over 200 participants. The last two rounds were played on the east course, with the cut in the top 65.
Since its inception, the tournament has been supported by the European Tour , thanks to which there is a higher prize money and a stronger field of participants at the start.
