Jochen Rausch (born April 7, 1956 in Wuppertal ) is a German musician , journalist and writer .

Rausch began writing for the Neue Ruhr Zeitung at the age of 18 . Rausch has been active in music and word-of-mouth broadcasts for West German broadcasting since the 1980s . In 2000 he became program director of the radio program 1 Live . Since 2015, Rausch has been head of the broad programs division, in which the waves 1Live , WDR 2 and WDR 4 are combined, and also head of programs for WDR 2 and WDR 4. He is also deputy radio director of WDR.

Work as a musician

After being a singer and pianist in the band Die Helden at the end of the 1970s , he founded the band Stahlnetz with his childhood friend Detlev Cremer and released an album on Ariola in 1982 . Today he forms the LEBENdIGITAL project with Cremer . In 2010 Rausch was a member of the German jury of the Eurovision Song Contest .

Work as a writer

Rausch has also been working as a writer for several years. His first book, the novel Restlicht , was published in 2008. Two years later, the Trieb short story collection followed . In 2013, Berlin Verlag published his novel Krieg , which received a lot of attention from both critics and the public (also as an audio book with Ulrich Noethen ). The novel was from Rick Ostermann filmed . The film premiered in September 2017 as part of the Venice Film Festival and was named Best TV Film of the Year at the 30th Baden-Baden TV Film Festival in 2018 .
