Jochen Wimmer

Jochen Wimmer (* 1915 ; † July 27, 1961 ) was a German sports journalist . As a former jockey , equestrian sport was his specialty.

Life

Wimmer recently commented on radio and television broadcasts of equestrian sport for Hessischer Rundfunk . Apart from his subject, he also moderated country radio programs. Large articles in radio magazines such as Hörzu or the publication of a record he designed on the equestrian sport, On Handling Horses (1961), on which a number of prominent German equestrian athletes such as Heinz Pollay and Hans Günter Winkler contributed.

Contemporary television criticism saw him as “ the lively portrayal of tournament sport who, with Hanns Stein, formed a hard-to-beat duet of experts, enthusiasts and at the same time enthusiasts. Die Zeit called him a“ master speaker ”. In addition, he was described as a “critical” sports journalist whose “own thoughts” on equestrian sport “often received both friendly recognition and unfriendly rejection”.

He wrote written articles for racing as an editor of a specialist magazine or for publications such as Robert Lembke's book about the 1960 Olympic Games . In addition, he made a substantial contribution to the content of the equestrian primer We go to the tournament (1957). In July 1961, Jochen Wimmer had an accident with his car on the new Bäderstraße on the Baltic Sea. He suffered a fatal heart attack at the wheel of the vehicle and fell down an embankment with the car.
