Joe Bonica

Joseph "Joe" Bonica (* 1960 in Manchester , Connecticut ) is an American modern and pop jazz drummer .

Live and act

Bonica played in jazz rock bands in the 1970s . He settled in Gießen , where he played with local bands such as Double Bind , Yog Sothot and Up-Art and was a founding member of the Jazzinitiative Gießen eV in 1977 ( Hessischer Jazzpreis 2006) and later of the Giessen Improvisors Pool . He became a member of various groups around Ekkehard Jost , first Grumpff , then Aman Boutz , finally Chromatic Alarm and Transalpin Express Orchestra , with which he also appeared at international festivals. Between 1996 and 1998 he led the band Joe Bonica T-Bones . He was also active in the North Hessian band Out-Point (CD Acid Country ; 2005), played in the dance piece Macbeth in the Stadttheater Gießen in 2012 and is part of the organist Maggy Scott's New York Groove project .
