Detlef Landeck (born March 24, 1964 in Kierspe ) is a German jazz trombonist and music teacher.

Live and act

Landeck studied from 1986 to 1992 to be a teacher at the University of Kassel in the subjects of music education and German studies ; He also completed the jazz course in 1996 at the Hanover University of Music and Theater, majoring in trombone. He first played in the LandesjugendJazzOrchester Hessen, then in the Mörfiye New Jazz Sextet and in German Marstatts Blow Up , in the groups of Ekkehard Jost and Wollie Kaiser and the NDR Bigband . He has also appeared in the Hannover Jazz Orchestra with Albert Mangelsdorff and plays with Herbert Hellhund , Matthias Schubert , Bardo Henning , Detlev Beier and Heinz Lichius in the group Hannover Calling . He is a co-founder of the Out-Point trio and is also active as a theater musician at the Kassel State Theater .

He also worked as an organizer for the Hessian Jazzpodium, the Kassel Jazz Festival and various local jazz series; He also worked as a juror and teacher at various music schools. From 1990 he worked as a lecturer at various workshops in North Hesse and Lower Saxony and in the same year founded the Kassel Jazz Music Association , of which he was chairman until 2000. Between 1995 and 2002 he led the big band Jazz or Nie , and then worked as a teacher at the Werra-Meissner music school. Since 2007 he has been head of the university big band Göttingen XY JazZ and since 2008 in the jazz advisory board of the State Music Council of Hesse .

Prizes and awards

With the LandesjugendJazzOrchester Hessen, he received the “German Record Critics Award” in 1990 for the album Kicks and Sticks . In 1994 he was honored with the "Kassel Kulturförderpreis" for his artistic achievements as an outstanding trombonist in contemporary jazz and for his extraordinary services to the development of the Kassel and Hessian jazz scene. With the Havana Salsa Orchestra , he won the 1999 Jazzpodium Niedersachsen; In 2000 he received the Lower Saxony Promotion Prize with the Lower Saxony Jazz Orchestra , and in 2004 the Culture Promotion Prize of the City of Kassel with the big band Jazz or Nie .
