Joseph Andrew Nash (* 11. October 1960 in Boston , Massachusetts ) is a former American American football poker players. He played 15 seasons on the position of defensive tackles for the Seattle Seahawks in the National Football League .

NFL

After Nash was not selected in the 1982 NFL Draft , the Seattle Seahawks signed him . After Robert Hardy broke a leg in the preseason , the Seahawks needed a replacement defensive tackle and kept Nash in the final 53-man roster. In the middle of the 1983 season he was named a starter after Manu Tuiasosopo was injured. In 1984 he was able to achieve 7 sacks and 75 tackles , which is why he was appointed to the 1985 Pro Bowl . In the following season he was able to set 87 tackles and achieve a career record of 9 sacks. After 51 consecutive starts, Nash was injured at the end of the 1986 season . In the playoff game of the Seahawks against the Cincinnati Bengals in the 1988 season , Nash faked four times an injury to undermine the Bengals' no-huddle offense . In 1989 he was able to achieve 8 sacks and achieve a career record of 92 tackles. In 1992 he was awarded the Steve Largent Award by his teammates along with Jeff Bryant .

In his career he played in 218 games, the most in the history of the Seattle Seahawks, of which he started 169 (4th). He was able to set 779 tackles (3rd) and score 47.5 sacks (6th). Nash was also used in the special teams , where he blocked eight field goals and two point after touchdowns , for which he was nicknamed "Air Nash". For his achievements, Nash was voted into the Seattle Seahawks 35th Anniversary Team by fans in 2010 .

Nash lives in Boston, where he works in a bank. He is married and has three grown children.
