Josevata Taliga "Joe" Rokocoko (born June 6, 1983 in Nadi , Fiji ) is a New Zealand rugby union player. He plays on the position of the outer three quarters for the French club Aviron Bayonnais . In addition, he was a regular player for the All Blacks , the New Zealand national team, until 2010 .

Career

The Fiji-born rocococo immigrated to New Zealand with his family at the age of five and has lived in Auckland ever since . He was a member of the junior national teams of the U-16, U-19 and U-21 and was junior world champion in 2001. From 2003 he played for the Blues in the international championship Super 12 (later the Super 14, since 2011/12 the Super 15).

After very good performances during the Super 12 season, which were crowned by winning the championship, Rokocoko played for the national team for the first time on June 14, 2003 against England . He was used in four games at the 2003 World Cup and came in third. In the same year he achieved a total of 17 attempts , surpassing the team record previously held by Jonah Lomu and Christian Cullen . For these achievements he was voted Player of the Year 2003.

From 2004 Rokocoko also played for the Auckland Rugby Football in the New Zealand Championship (in addition to his appearances for the Blues) and became champions in 2005. In 2003, 2005 and 2006 he won the Tri-Nations tournament with New Zealand . In the 2011/12 season, Rocococo moved to the French club Aviron Bayonnais .

Rocococo is known for its speed and physical strength. At a height of 1.89 m, he weighs around 100 kg and reaches 10.66 seconds in a 100-meter run. For a few years he lived with the family of Sitiveni Sivivatu ; since then they have referred to each other as cousins, although they are not related to each other.
