Joel Ignacio Almeida Huerta (born January 29, 1991 in Victoria de Durango , Durango ) is a Mexican football player on the position of goalkeeper .

career

Almeida began his footballing career in the youth division of his home club Alacranes de Durango , with which he also received his first professional contract and for which he made a total of 61 appearances in the third-rate Mexican Segunda División between 2011 and 2014 and scored three goals. For the 2014/15 season he moved to the third-rate Santos de Soledad FC , where he was only used in the second half of the season ( Clausura 2015) and played a total of 8 games.

Since the beginning of 2016, Almeida has been under contract with the Salvadoran club Santa Tecla FC , with whom he has won the Salvadoran football championship three times and for which he has played 155 appearances so far (as of May 12, 2019).

Because there are relatively few player changes between his home country Mexico and his host country El Salvador and there is a hateful football rivalry between the two countries - especially from El Salvador - Almeida initially found his change to be complicated, but is now enjoying the positive reception by the People in Santa Tecla .
