Joel Buchanan Danner

Joel Buchanan Danner (* 1804 in Liberty , Maryland , †  July 29, 1885 in Gettysburg , Pennsylvania ) was an American politician . In 1850 and 1851 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Nothing is known about Joel Danner's youth and schooling. He later ran a hardware store in Gettysburg. He was also active in coach building. In Gettysburg he was also a justice of the peace at times. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party .

After the death of MP Henry Nes , Danner was elected to the House of Representatives in Washington, DC , when he was due for the by-election for the 15th seat of Pennsylvania , where he took up his new mandate on December 2, 1850. By March 3, 1851 he was able to end the current legislative period in Congress .

After serving in the US House of Representatives, Joel Danner resumed his previous activities in Gettysburg. During the Civil War he was a member of the Gettysburg Central Relief Committee . In the run-up to the Battle of Gettysburg , he assembled militia troops during the advance of Southern General Robert E. Lee . He then witnessed the battle. Joel Danner also spent the rest of his life in Gettysburg, where he died on July 29, 1885.
