Joel Sánchez Ramos

Joel Sánchez Ramos (born August 17, 1974 in Guadalajara , Jalisco ) is a Mexican football player from the youth department of Club Deportivo Guadalajara , where he began his professional career in 1995. He is also known by his nickname “el Tiburón” (the shark).

Career

Joel Sánchez is considered to be one of the greatest talents that the Chivas Guadalajara youth department produced in the 1990s. Although he basically acts as a central defender, he can be used anywhere in defense. He gives the defense stability and security, but is also a dangerous player. Despite his youth, he was one of the main pillars in winning the Guadalajara title in 1997.

In 1999 he left the club and signed with Chivas' arch-rivals America, of all places . But he came back in the summer of 2001: “I am a Chiva and always will be.” In the next two years at Chivas, he became the team captain and captain. Loved and adored by the fans, he left the club in 2003 due to differences with the Chivas owner Jorge Vergara .

Since then he has changed employers on an annual basis.

"El Tibúron" was part of the squad of the Mexican national team at the 1998 World Cup in France and was used in two preliminary round matches against Belgium and Holland , each of which ended 2-2. He was also part of the Mexican squad for the 1991 U17 World Cup, the 1993 U20 World Cup and the Copa America in 1997 and 1999.
