Häggström, who starts for the Piteå Elit SK , ran his first race in the Scandinavian Cup in Ulricehamn in February 2009 , which he finished in 171st place in the sprint. He made his debut in the cross-country skiing world cup in January 2017 in Ulricehamn, which he finished in 74th place over 15 km freestyle. In December 2017 in Vuokatti he reached his first top ten finish in the Scandinavian Cup with tenth place in the sprint. In January 2019 he got his first World Cup points in Dresden with 12th place in the sprint. At the end of March 2019, he became Swedish champion over 50 km freestyle in Gällivare . After 17th place in the Ruka Triple at the beginning of the 2019/20 season, he finished 31st in the Tour de Ski 2019/20 and achieved his first podium finishes in Dresden with third place in the sprint and second place together with Marcus Grate World cup.
