Johann Kinnerus (* 1705 in Mörbylånga ; † 1759 ) was a Swedish painter.

Life

Kinnerus enjoyed a school education in Skara . He trained as a painter at Oluf Collander in Mariestad . In 1733 he became a master craftsman in Jönköping . He is known to have been used to decorate around ten church buildings. The most famous works can be found in Habo's Church , which he designed together with Johan Christian Peterson from 1741 to 1743. Here the representations The Lord's Supper , Confession and the remission of sins are assigned to him. Presumably The Ten Commandments and The Lord's Prayer are also his works. His painting style is described as ancient with rather monotonous figures. He worked with strong contrasts, especially between red and blue.

Another church he designed is Brandstorp Church .
