Michael Best

Michael Best (born November 27, 1956 in Saarbrücken ) is a German graduate economist. Until autumn 2011 he was program group leader for television business and ARD stock market expert. Since October 1, 2011, he has headed the central communications department of the Deutsche Bundesbank .

Life and work

Michael Best studied economics, philosophy and political science at the Saarland University . His mother, Carla Best, was a presenter at Saarländischer Rundfunk. Michael Best took his first journalistic steps during and after his studies on the Saarbrücken Halberg.

From 1989 he was a stock market reporter for the ARD-Mittagsmagazin , editor and presenter of the ARD-Wirtschaftstelegram and the show Trends on hr-television. At the beginning of the 90s he took over the editorial management of ARD-aktuell and in 1998 became the national political correspondent for the Tagesschau , Tagesthemen , the Mittagsmagazin and the report from Bonn / Berlin . After various other managerial positions at ARD, he was head of the television exchange program group at Hessischer Rundfunk from 2007 to 2011who is responsible for reporting on the stock exchange in the ARD. As an ARD stock exchange expert, he appeared as a moderator of the stock exchange program in the First and a frequent commentator on economic topics in the program Tagesthemen .

Best has headed the central communications department of the Deutsche Bundesbank since October 1, 2011.

Michael Best can also be seen outside of television as a speaker at corporate events. In his lecture “Capitalism Reloaded - Where we have to steer after the debacle” Michael Best explains what, in his opinion, needs to be done now so that the financial crisis does not turn into permanent suffering.
