Jorge Terceiro ( Georgian ჟორჟე ტერშეირო; born July 19, 1976 in João Pessoa ), called "Gia", is a former Georgian beach volleyball player . The native Brazilian competed for Georgia with his partner Renato Gomes (nickname "Geor") in order to avoid the great competition at home.

Career

Geor / Gia, whose stage names together make up the English name for Georgia, played their first open tournaments in 2006. This year and next, they achieved various top ten placements. At the 2007 World Cup , they won their first game and were still eliminated as the bottom group after the preliminary round. In the same year they had to admit defeat to the German duo Klemperer / Koreng in the third main round at the European Championships in Valencia before they failed on the losing side to the Austrians Doppler / Gartmayer . In 2008 they finished fifth at the Grand Slam in Klagenfurt and then went to the Olympic Games in Beijing . There they were only stopped in the semi-finals by the later gold medal winners Rogers / Dalhausser from the USA and lost the bronze game against the Brazilians Ricardo / Emanuel .

At the 2009 World Cup in Stavanger, Geor / Gia were eliminated after the preliminary round because they lost the direct comparison against the French Dugrip / Salvetti in three sets in the last game . She met the same fate at the 2011 World Cup in Rome . They had the same set ratio and the same number of points as Thiago / Harley , but lost the game against the Brazilians 0-2.
