Johan Wolter Arnberg (born October 14, 1832 in Norrköping , Sweden , † June 20, 1900 in Saltsjöbaden ) was a Swedish economist and bank director.

Life

Johan Wolter Arnberg was the son of the senator and textile manufacturer Johan Adolf Arnberg and his wife Sophia Luth. In 1849 he began studying economics in Uppsala , which he successfully completed in 1854. In 1856 he became an associate professor of political science. From 1856 to 1865 he was a lecturer in political science in Uppsala, then worked there and in Stockholm as a bank director; from 1874 he was an agent of the Swedish Reichsbank . Arnberg belonged to the liberal, free trade oriented school of thought. His book and essay publications had a lasting impact on Sweden's economic policy.

Wolter was a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and from 1875 to 1895 a member of the Stockholm City Council.
