The Robert Bosch Vocational College ( RBBK ) in Duisburg is an upper secondary school .

Around 2,300 students attend the Robert Bosch Vocational College in Duisburg. Industrial mechanics , technical product designers , materials testers , mechatronics technicians , process mechanics, machine and system operators as well as electronics technicians and specialists for machine service are trained in the dual training courses . In addition, there are full-time school training courses at the vocational school and the double qualification for the technical diploma. A technical college for mechanical engineering (full and part-time form) and materials technology (part-time form) is also located at the RBBK . who qualify for state-certified technicians . More than 80 teachers teach at the RBBK.

The city of Duisburg is shaped by the structural change in the north of Duisburg, in particular the change in the steel industry. Plant closings, mergers and rationalization have cut a large number of jobs, especially for low-skilled young men. The Robert Bosch Vocational College offers these young people in particular the opportunity to acquire additional qualifications, skills and school-leaving certificates with the aim of participating in society through its educational programs, its support concept, its good school facilities and an appreciative learning and working atmosphere.

In close cooperation with the many training companies, the colleagues at the Robert Bosch Vocational College say goodbye to around 350 young people every year as urgently needed specialists. Almost a fifth of them have, in addition to the skilled worker or journeyman certificate, also obtained the technical college entrance qualification; this opens up a multitude of new opportunities for this group in the process of lifelong learning.

history

Front view of the "Hamborn Industrial Vocational School", 1929

The Robert Bosch Vocational College in Duisburg was established in 1897 following a resolution by the Hamborn community , initially as a training school for 30 young people who were supposed to learn a trade. In 1920 the "advanced training school" became the "industrial vocational school" of the city of Hamborn. The decision of the city council to build a building for a commercial vocational school took place in 1926. The new vocational school on August-Thyssen-Strasse was occupied in 1929.

The advanced vocational school was set up in 1956 in evening form. The “Commercial Vocational School of the City of Hamborn” becomes the “City Commercial Technical School Duisburg-Hamborn”. In 1967 the technical college for mechanical engineering was established. The technical college was set up two years later. In 1978 the vocational schools were reorganized according to their professional focus. The “Municipal Technical School Duisburg-Hamborn” becomes the “Municipal Vocational School for Technology DU-North”. From 1979 onwards, a college trial - subject integration and dual qualification - was carried out. The “Städtische Vocational School for Technology DU-Nord” becomes the “Städt. Collegiate school and technical college for technology Duisburg-Nord ”. The “Municipal College and Technical College for Technology Duisburg-Nord” gave itself the name “Robert Bosch College” in 1994. The college trial was ended in 1997 (Vocational College Act). The “Robert Bosch College School” becomes the “Robert Bosch Vocational College”.
