The Staatliche Realschule Hof is the only Realschule in the Upper Franconian town of Hof . The school, founded in 1960, is located in the Münsterviertel in the west of the city. The school is also called Johann-Georg-August-Wirth-Realschule after the politician from Vormärz .
School program
The school has four classes from 5th to 10th grade.
From the seventh grade onwards, students can choose between various elective subjects:
- Group I Mathematical
- Group II economy
- Group III a French
- Group III b social affairs
Biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics are offered as seminar subjects.
building
The school building is located in the west of the city, below the Bismarck Tower . In addition to the Realschule, the school center includes the Johann-Christian-Reinhart-Gymnasium , the Max-Reger-Grundschule (branch school of the Eichendorff-Schule) and the Academy for Social Pedagogy (FAKS).
The high school shares with the school into the 1970s in reinforced concrete frame construction built building. The load-bearing walls are made of exposed concrete , non-load-bearing walls are made of gypsum cardboard in a frame construction . A shelter (“atomic bunker”) for 200 people is located under one construction phase . In the center of the building is the auditorium , which is also used for extracurricular concerts, theater performances and lectures.
The large sports center belonging to the school complex is also used by the other schools in the city of Hof. The sports center contains a triple gymnasium, an indoor swimming pool with a 25-meter pool and a hard court. The municipal stadium on Ossecker Strasse with a 400-meter track and grass pitch is also nearby.
engagement
The school has been a member of the School Without Racism - School with Courage campaign since 2013 .
During a campaign for a classmate suffering from cancer, a large number of male students had their heads shaved in solidarity in 2017.
