Johann Adam Krygell (born September 18, 1835 in Næstved , † July 27, 1915 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish organist and composer .

Life

The son of a military musician was a student of Niels Wilhelm Gade and Johann Peter Emilius Hartmann . 1867-68 he studied at the Copenhagen Conservatory . He then worked as an organist in Herlufsholm, before becoming organist at St. Matthew's Church in Copenhagen in 1880. He held this position until his death.

Krygell composed around 150 works, including three symphonies, six orchestral suites and ten orchestral overtures, 24 preludes and fugues for the organ, 24 string quartets and the Saul opera .
