Johann Andreas Kommerell (born June 26, 1767 in Tübingen ; † September 16, 1817 there ) was a German innkeeper , politician and mayor of Tübingen. He ran the restaurant "Zum Ochsen", and he also held the post of Royal Postmaster .

Life

Johann Andreas Kommerell was the eldest son of Andreas Kommerell (1741–1824), who was an innkeeper and Reichsposthalter, and his wife, Maria Barbara geb. Weimer (1747–1801), a daughter of the Tübingen monastery butcher and butcher's guild master Johann Jakob Weimer. Kommerell had 14 siblings, four of whom did not survive childhood. Later, from 1771, the father was also a member of the council and from 1788 (until 1817) a court relative in the Tübingen town hall.

Johann Andreas Kommerell took over his activities from his father: As an innkeeper, he ran the restaurant "Zum Ochsen". He also ran the post office in Tübingen - after the reorganization of the duchy into a kingdom in 1806, he was named the royal postmaster. Since 1796 he was also a member of the council and in 1806 he rose to court relatives and at the same time mayor of Tübingen. Since the Auchtwiese leased by him had been flooded, according to a "most gracious resolution" of May 19, 1806, the 25 fl lease he should have paid at Martini (November 11, 1804) was waived. At the same time Kommerell leased the hospital goods for 210 florins. He held the office of mayor until his death at the age of 50. He shared it with Johann Jacob Rehfuß , until 1815 with Johann Immanuel Bossert and Johann Friedrich Kierecker , and from 1816 with Johann Andreas Laupp . Kommerell died of dropsy .
