Johann Anton Tillier (councilor, 1604)
Johann Anton Tillier (IV.) (Baptized February 28, 1604 ; † 1682 ) was a Bernese and Swiss politician and came from the Bernese patrician family Tillier .
Life
Tillier became Bernese Grand Councilor in 1627, Grossweibel in 1631, Schultheiss von Burgdorf in 1634 , member of the Small Council in 1640, Vogt in Lausanne in 1648, and Welschseckelmeister in 1650. In this capacity as a member of the government of the city-state of Bern, he conducted negotiations with the peasant leader Niklaus Leuenberger and the rebellious peasants from the Emmental during the Swiss Peasants' War in 1653 . Tillier became salt director in 1668 and Venner in 1674 .
