Johann August Leberecht Keferstein

Johann August Leberecht Keferstein (born October 19, 1753 in Kröllwitz , † 1781 in Ilfeld ) was a German paper miller , entrepreneur and inventor .

Life

Johann August Leberecht Keferstein comes from an old paper mill family. His father was Georg Christoph Keferstein (* 1723). On May 17, 1751 he married Christiane Henriette, the daughter of Pastor Jacobi from Veckenstedt and had 17 children with her, Johann August Leberecht was the second born.

In 1765 Keferstein was admitted to the Latin School in Halle . He later studied mathematics at the same place .

Johann August Leberecht Keferstein made a name for himself as a papermaker and paper mill owner. From the year 1775/76 he worked as a founder and papermaker in the Trutenauer paper mill near Königsberg . In 1776 the mill was expanded under the direction of Keferstein and a pressboard factory was set up . In 1821 he set up a steam engine. In 1857/58 the mill was stopped.

Johann August Leberecht Keferstein also ran a paper mill in Ilfeld. First as a papermaker (1779) and then as owner until 1780.

He died unmarried and childless in 1781 in Ilfeld.
