Johann Bensheimer

Johann Bensheimer (* mid-17th century in Dresden ; † late 17th century there) was a German draftsman and engraver .

Life

Bensheimer worked in Dresden, Danzig and possibly also in Berlin between 1655 and 1699 . Among other things, he engraved portraits of Saxon electors and usually signed them with I. Bensh.or, by I. B.mistake, he was also referred to as a medalist who J. B.signed with . Later, however, these works were awarded to the mint master and medalist Johann Buchheim (* 1624; † July 5, 1683), who worked for Bishop Karl Ferdinand of Breslau. However, some medals had previously been attributed to Johann Blum .
