Heinrich Ohrmann (born July 23, 1885 in Neuenhaus ; † January 6, 1966 in Bremen ) was a German Roman Catholic theologian and provost in Bremen.

Life

Ohrmann studied theology. In 1913 he was ordained a Catholic priest in Osnabrück . From 1919 he was vicar of the St. Johann parish in Bremen and then initially worked as a chaplain . In 1939 he was punished by the National Socialists for violating the flag decree on the occasion of the Corpus Christi procession .

In 1947 the Catholic Committee was founded in Bremen and Ohrmann was the spiritual director. In 1947 he succeeded Msgr. Friedrich Hardinghaus as pastor primarius and dean of St. Johann. The Dean's Office Bremen belongs to the Diocese of Osnabrück . It was largely thanks to the Caritas Association in Bremen under the direction of Ohrmann that the non-profit housing cooperative Schönere Zukunft was re-established through his initiative in 1948 . In 1953 St. Johann was provost church and Ohrmann was provost for his 40th priestly ordination. The new beginning of the Catholic community in Bremen after the Second World War was closely connected with him. In 1961 he retired. He was then honorary dean of the church in Bremen.
