Johann Brotan

Johann Brotan (born June 24, 1843 in Klattau , † November 20, 1918 in Vienna ) was an Austrian mechanical engineer.

Johann Brotan studied at the Polytechnic Institute in Vienna .

He worked at the State Telegraph Construction Company , the Theiss Railway Company , the Hungarian Eastern Railway and the Lemberg-Chernivtsi-Jassy Railway before joining the kkStB in 1890 . In 1893 he worked as an engineer in the train transport service of the K. k. Employed by the Villach Railway Operations Directorate . In 1902 he became director of the kkStB workshop in Gmünd , and later the workshop at Vienna's Westbahnhof . He retired in 1912.

He became known through the invention of a Lokomotiv -Röhrenfeuerbüchse ( Brotankessel ).
