Johann Buchinger

Johann Buchinger (born June 8, 1928 in Andorf ; † September 23, 1994 in St. Roman ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and teacher. From 1961 to 1990 he was a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament and deputy mayor of St. Roman.

education and profession

Johann Buchinger attended elementary school in Andorf and secondary school in Schärding . He then graduated from the federal teacher training institute in Linz, where he also passed the Matura in 1948 . In 1950 he also passed the teaching examination for elementary schools and also studied four semesters of political and economic sciences at the University of Vienna between 1954 and 1955 . From 1952 Buchinger worked as a primary school teacher, later he became primary school director in St. Roman.

Politics and functions

Buchinger was already involved in politics during his studies and in 1952 became chairman of the Austrian Workers' Association (ÖAAB) in St. Roman. In 1954 he also took over the function of ÖAAB district organizational officer in Schärding and in 1957 took over the management of the ÖAAB main district Schärding. Within the ÖVPO he was also the parish party chairman of the ÖVP-St. Roman, in 1972 he rose to the position of chief district chairman of the ÖVP in Schärding and subsequently also became a regional organization officer. Buchinger worked as the ÖAAB main district chairman until 1987 and as the ÖVP main district chairman until 1990. He was Vice Mayor of St. Roman from 1955 to 1964 and ran for the Austrian People's Party in the 1961 state elections . On November 16, 1961, he was sworn in as a member of the state parliament. During his time in the state parliament he was temporarily chairman of the school committee. Buchinger left the state parliament on March 7, 1990.

Private

Buchinger married the teacher Margarete Lehner in 1955. The marriage had a daughter and five sons. He was chairman of the St. Roman gymnastics and sports union, chairman of the St. Roman costume band and member of the St. Roman volunteer fire department.
