Johann Casimir Storm (born April 26, 1790 in Westermühlen , † September 16, 1874 ) was a German lawyer and politician in the Duchy of Schleswig . He represented the "smaller landowners" as a member of the Schleswig State Assembly in 1836, 1838, 1840 and 1842.

biography

Johann Casimir Storm was a son of the long-lease miller in Westermühlen Hans Storm (1739-1820) and his wife Maria Claussen (1759-1823). After attending school, Storm enrolled at the Faculty of Law and, after successfully completing his studies, passed his state law examination and then became a lawyer and judicial councilor in Husum after completing his preparatory service.

Although he was not one of the "smaller landowners" (corresponds to wealthy farmers ), he was sent to the constituent assembly of the estates in Schleswig in 1836 . After this election as a member of the Schleswig estates assembly by the peasant class, he took over the office of the secretary of the assembly of estates in the assembly. In this capacity he responded in 1842 to the first speech in Danish in the assembly of the estates (given by Hiort Lorenzen ) with the words: “... the German language is the language of the assembly. If someone wanted to speak Danish, this would also be the most superfluous thing that could happen ... "

Casimir Storm was married to Lucie Woldsen (1797–1879). A common son was the writer Theodor Storm .
