Johann Christian Ferdinand Assmann

Johann Christian Ferdinand Assmann (born June 8, 1792 in Magdeburg ; † March 1, 1845 ibid) was a German Protestant theologian .

Life

Johann Christian Ferdinand Aßmann was born as the youngest of 7 sons of the Magdeburg leather manufacturer Johann Friedrich Aßmann.

At first he attended elementary school and then until Easter 1813 the cathedral high school in Magdeburg . He then began to study medicine in Halle , but later switched to studying theology . In 1816 he received his doctorate in philosophy and in 1817 he was appointed to the second preaching position at the St. Katharinen Church in Magdeburg, at the same time he was given a teaching position at the school teacher seminar .

In 1819 he was appointed to a municipal teaching position at the higher industrial and commercial school in Magdeburg and held this position until 1831. On October 24, 1822, he was introduced as pastor and first preacher to succeed the late Pastor Jasper. In 1833 he succeeded Superintendent Gottfried Wilhelm Dennhardt (* July 11, 1792; † August 25, 1857 in Erfurt). The magistrate of the city of Magdeburg elected him to this office, into which he was introduced on October 15, 1833 by Johann Heinrich Bernhard Dräseke . On the following day the magistrate elected a member of the debtors' council. He remained in this position until his death in 1845, when Johann Karl Erler was his successor .

In 1818 Johann Christian Ferdinand Aßmann married Caroline Auguste Matthias, the eldest daughter of the Konstorial- und Schulrat and rector of the cathedral school Johann Andreas Matthias .
