Life

He was the son of the city doctor Jeremias Eisenmenger , studied in Heidelberg from 1608 and obtained his doctorate in Basel in 1614 . After a time in Frankfurt am Main , he returned to his hometown in 1616, where he established himself as a general practitioner. He was married to the Heilbronn citizen daughter Maria Magdalena Imlin. On his deathbed he recommended his son of the same name, Johann Christoph (1620–1670), as his successor.

Like his father, Eisenmenger recorded his medical experience in writing. The writings came in 1802 from the city library to the library of the Heilbronn grammar school , where they were edited by Rector Pressel and finally burned in the air raid on December 4, 1944 .

Eisenmenger was best known for his investigation of the water of the Fleiner Liver Fountain , which he attributed a medicinal effect in 1632.
