Well of the Leberbrunnen (July 2013)

The liver fountain is a spring in the municipality of Flein in the Heilbronn district in Baden-Württemberg .

location

The eponymous fountain is located in the eastern municipality on a field path crossing next to the right upper course of the Deinbach, also known as the Leberbrunnenbach , between the right bank of the brook and the field path to the vineyard below Donnbronn .

history

The fountain in the east of the Fleiner district has been known for ages. The Heilbronn city doctor Johann Christoph Eisenmenger the Elder wrote an early printed description of him in 1632 after the city council of Heilbronn , to which Flein belonged at that time, had received news of healings from the water of the well. Since fighting again took place in the area around Flein in the Thirty Years War from 1634, the healing spring was not expanded. Because other times of emergency followed in the 17th century and subsequent water tests cast doubt on the healing power of the fountain, it was initially forgotten. It was not until 1792 that the spring was rebuilt in a sandstone building. When a water pipe was built in 1906, the building was torn down. The local historian Paul Fähnle hid some of the stones, including an inscription stone from 1792, and had a new well built in the same year at his own expense.

The liver fountain house from 1982/83 in October 2010

A nearby vineyard house built in 1871 was known as the Leberbrunnenhäuschen ; it was demolished in 1970 because it was in disrepair. After the land consolidation in the Schenkenhalde in 1978/79, a new shelter was planned, which was built in 1982/83 for around 37,000 DM on the other side of the Deinbach . In memory of the previous liver fountain house, contrary to the original plans, a tent roof was placed on the new house .
