Johann Christoph Meinecke

Johann Christoph Meinecke , spelling Meineke , (* July 22, 1722 in Quedlinburg ; † July 9, 1790 in Oberwiederstedt ) was an Evangelical Lutheran theologian and naturalist and local researcher.

Life

He is the son of Johann Christoph Meinecke (1672–1727), who was a deacon at the Marktkirche St. Benedikti zu Quedlinburg .

Johann Christoph Meinecke attended high school in Quedlinburg and completed his theology studies at the University of Halle in 1740 . He then spent several years as a private tutor to the family of Hardenberg on Castle Oberwiederstedt , before he took over the ministry there in 1751, which he held until his death.

Around 1780 he wrote the handwritten treatise Collected Historical News from the Village and Nonnenkloster Oberwiederstedt , in which he a. a. also described the gems of the Wiederstedt Monastery.

From 1774 Meinecke was a member of the Society of Natural Scientists in Berlin, founded a year earlier, and from 1780 a member of the Leipzig Economic Society.

His son Albert Christian Meinecke (1757–1807) became rector of Osterode and his son Carl Friedrich Ernst Meineke (1766–1836) lived as a merchant and councilor in Wolfenbüttel .
