Johann Conrad Freiherr Firnhaber von Eberstein (born September 22, 1776 in Rüsselsheim ; † June 4, 1849 ) was a Hessian politician and former member of the 2nd Chamber of the Land estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

family

Johann Conrad Firnhaber von Eberstein was the son of the landowner Max Anton Freiherr Firnhaber von Eberstein (1728–1777) and his wife Rahel Elisa née de Neuville (from Frankfurt am Main). Johann Conrad Firnhaber von Eberstein, who was a Protestant denomination, married Anna Gertrud, born Kolff, the widow of the former Dutch major Adrian van der Hoop, on February 2, 1807 in Kassel. She already had three children: the twin brothers Willem-Gerit and Walter (* 1799), and the daughter Luise (* 1801).

education and profession

Johann Conrad Firnhaber von Eberstein became a Hessian-Kassel lieutenant and from 1801 to 1806 staff assistant in the Garde du Corps regiment . In 1817 he was Kurhessischer Chamberlain , 1821 a member of the inspectorate in the spiritual land box casting. From 1808 he had been the lord of the manor on the Schmitte near Rodheim ad Bieber . There he set up the house on the brook as a home for himself and his family. In a will he bequeathed the estate to his stepson Willem-Gerrit Freiherr van der Hoop (1799–1857), who had been in charge of agriculture there since 1835.

Firnhaber's nephew, the son of his sister Antoinette Elisabeth Rahel (1772–1808) and the Frankfurt banker Johann Heinrich Jordis (1757–1803), who later became a member of the state parliament Georg Christian Rudolph Firnhaber von Eberstein (-Jordis) (1797–1848), took over with the grand ducal Hessian approval "Firnhaber of Eberstein on 14 April 1826 the peerage by him as gen. Jordi". However, the nephew died childless before the uncle.

politics

In the 1st and 2nd electoral periods (1820-1824) he was a member of the second chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse. In the estates he represented the manorial nobility.
