Johann Daniel Thulesius

Johann Daniel Thulesius (born August 9, 1800 in Bremen , † July 12, 1850 in Bremerhaven ) was a German lawyer , Bremerhaven bailiff and Bremen high court attorney .

biography

Thulesius was the son of the doctor and professor Conrad Heinrich Thulesius . He studied law at the University of Jena , the University of Tübingen and the University of Göttingen and received his doctorate Dr. jur. in Göttingen . In 1823 he became an attorney and attorney in Bremen. He was friends with the Mayor of Bremen and founder of Bremerhaven (1827) Johann Smidt . Since 1830 he worked in Bremerhaven as a bailiff of the Bremerhaven office for the sick bailiff Johann Heinrich Castendyk and on May 2, 1832 he was finally appointed bailiff, as the highest official of the office at that time. The newly founded city expanded the ports in its time and flourished quickly. Thulesius was responsible for the administration, the police and the courts. He is said to have been critical of the German Revolution of 1848/49 and local self-government. He died of black smallpox in 1850 .
