Life

How Johann David Wilhelmi, who came from Bacharach, came to Bern has not been clarified with certainty, possibly through his service as a field doctor under Johann Ludwig von Erlach . On July 31, 1650 he was accepted as a permanent resident, on April 22, 1656 as a city physician and on June 3, 1657 as a citizen, in 1660 his family was accepted into society. On December 30, 1652 he was elected member ( matriculation no. 10 ) of the Academia Naturae Curiosorum , today's Leopoldina .

One of his descendants is a son of the same name, who was also a doctor and city physician. His sons were Johann David, also a physician, and Franz Ludwig, pastor in Rüderswil . His great-grandson was the Swiss theologian Samuel Anton Wilhelmi .
