Johann Freudenreich
Johann Freudenreich (born April 1, 1923 in Munich ; † January 2007 there ) was a German journalist and author.
Live and act
Freudenreich came from a long-established Jewish family. His father was a lawyer in the renowned law firm of Heinrich Frankenburger . Mother and children emigrated to Palestine in 1934, the father followed in 1938.
After graduating from high school, he worked as a customs inspector in Palestine. At the end of the 1940s, he began studying painting at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris . An encounter with Werner Friedmann , the editor-in-chief of the Süddeutsche Zeitung , who had known the family since the 1920s, persuaded Freudenreich to return to Munich.
He initially worked as a court cartoonist for the Süddeutsche . At the suggestion of his head of department, the first police reports were issued from 1952 and he remained the newspaper's Munich crime reporter for four decades. He was visiting professor at police schools.
