Johann Friedrich Dieffenbacher

Johann Friedrich Dieffenbacher (* 1801 ; † April 16, 1882 in Ulm ) was a German church musician and choir director . From 1830 he worked as music director at Ulm Minster for around 50 years .

In 1830, Dieffenbacher was elected to succeed Samuel Gottlob Auberlen, who died the previous year, as music director at Ulm Minster. In addition to his work as a conductor and organist at the Ulm Minster, he also worked as a singing teacher at the royal high school and the daughter's school in Ulm. In 1850 he conducted the first big festival of the newly founded Swabian Singers' Association in Ulm ( Mozart's Requiem ). In 1877 the King of Württemberg awarded him the Golden Civil Merit Medal . In 1881 he conducted a minster concert on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the great organ.
