Johann Friedrich Ostertag
Johann Friedrich Ostertag (born November 24, 1803 in Stuttgart , † April 5, 1885 in Heidelberg ) was pastor of Eltingen and a writer. In his spare time he devoted himself to improving foreign language teaching.
Life
He was the son of Johann Friedrich Ostertag and Charlotte Wenzler . His younger brother Albert Ostertag (1810–1871) was also a theologian .
After completing his studies , Ostertag received his doctorate as Dr. phil. After an unsuccessful application for the pastor's position in Eltingen in 1838, he was finally transferred there as pastor in 1852.
In addition to his professional activity, he showed a great deal of commitment in researching new methods for foreign language teaching. He kept the local history. He also worked as an author.
Act
Little is known of Ostertag's literary work. Only the “Speech in the Church”, printed in a brochure on the Gau song festival from 1858 (“Description of the Gau song festival in Leonberg”) has stood the test of time. There is also the "German School Grammar" from 1874.
