Johann Georg Arnold von Brokes

Johann Georg Arnold von Brokes (born April 27, 1773 in Lübeck ; † February 11, 1825 there ) was a lawyer and councilor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

Life

Johann Georg Arnold von Brokes was a son of Lübeck councilor Christian von Brokes (1747–1802), who belonged to the circle society and had been ennobled in 1773 , and his wife Margaretha Cecilie (1755–1828), née. Wibbeking. On March 19, 1785, at the age of 11, he received a canon position at Lübeck Cathedral . This was to the death of the dean Christian August of Eyben vacant prebend , which in turns by the Prince Bishop Frederick Augustus was awarded. His father presented the nobility diploma awarded to him by the emperor in 1773 as proof of his ability to hold a pen .

He studied at the universities of Jena and Göttingen. In 1799 in Jena he was one of the signatories of a student petition against the dismissal of Fichte . In Göttingen he was awarded a Dr. jur. PhD. After completing his studies, he became a bet protocolist in 1806 . In 1822 Brokes became councilor of the city and served in the High Court and the Guardianship Authority. He also became a member of the tax deputation and the central poor deputation of the city.

On June 2, 1807 he married Johanna Catharina Blohm , a daughter of the businessman Johann Christian Blohm .
