Johann Georg Weinhold
Johann Georg Weinhold (born April 6, 1813 in Leipzig , † February 24, 1880 in Rome ) was a German history painter , engraver and lithographer .
biography
Weinhold was the son of a copperplate engraver . From 1834 he studied painting with Reindel in Nuremberg and Munich. He worked u. a. in Dresden. Lithographs of pictures and some works in the painting gallery (Santis Sistine Madonna, Murillos Madonna, von Dycks Danae) were created. He worked in France, England, Spain (1852) and often in Italy, where he also died.
In the museum in the old town hall in Grünstadt there is a signed watercolor portrait of Countess Seraphine Franziska zu Leiningen-Westerburg-Neuleiningen († 1874). It originally hung in the ancestral gallery on the Westerburg and was given to the museum.
