Johann Gerhard (born December 27, 1599 in Stuttgart , † December 31, 1657 in Tübingen ) was a German doctor, professor and rector at the University of Tübingen .
Life
Johann Gerhard enrolled at the University of Tübingen in 1617. He first graduated from the Philosophical Faculty and then studied medicine. In 1625 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD . He initially worked as a general practitioner. From 1626 to 1657 he was a full professor of medicine in Tübingen. In 1633, 1637, 1641, 1646 and 1649 he was rector of the University of Tübingen. His portrait hangs in the professors' gallery in Tübingen .
