Johann Gerhard Fürstenau
Johann Gerhard Fürstenau (* 1686 in Osnabrück ; † June 15, 1764 in Lübeck ) was a German merchant and councilor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.
Life
Johann Gerhard Fürstenau was a son of the Osnabrück councilor Bernhard Fürstenau. In 1701 he was sent to his older brother in Lübeck to do a commercial apprenticeship. In 1711 he worked in Hamburg and in the following year in Riga and Reval . In 1716 he started his own business in Lübeck as a businessman. After a few years of voluntary work, he was elected to the Lübeck Council as a member of the Schonenfahrer in 1749. During his time as head of the Marienkirche in Lübeck , the astronomical clock was repaired a third time.
