The ВАЗ-2105 , German transcription WAS-2105 , internationally used transcription VAZ-2105 , is a sedan from the Shiguli series built by AwtoWAS in Tolyatti . It is the successor to the WAS-2101 and, like that one, a license replica of the Fiat 124 . Around 2,087,000 copies were made between 1979 and 2011. A station wagon, the WAS-2104 , was also created on the basis of the WAS-2105 . In markets outside the Comecon area, the car was marketed under the brand name Lada with regionally different additions.

description
The WAS-2105 is a four-door notchback sedan with a self-supporting body, a longitudinally installed front engine and rear-wheel drive.
landing gear
The front wheels are individually suspended on triangular wishbones of unequal length with coil springs and telescopic shock absorbers. There is also a cross stabilizer . The coil-sprung rear axle is rigid , it is guided with four trailing arms and laterally by a Panhard rod . Hydraulic telescopic shock absorbers are also installed here. The WAS-2105 has rims of size 5.0 J × 13 in with tires of size 165 SR 13. The braking system is a hydraulic dual-circuit braking system with 253 mm discs at the front and drums at the rear. The handbrake acts mechanically on the rear wheels. The steering is a worm-roller steering .
Engine and drive train
The basic version has a 1.3-liter gasoline engine specially developed for the WAS-2105 with a timing belt-driven overhead camshaft ; this version is described in detail below. The engines from other Schigulis, a diesel engine and a rotary engine for government vehicles were also available ex works.
The engine is a water-cooled and naturally aspirated four-cylinder in- line engine with wet sump lubrication , cast iron engine block , counter-current cylinder head . The cylinder head and cylinder head cover are made of die-cast aluminum. The overhead camshaft is driven by a toothed belt. It operates the hanging valves via rocker arms, one inlet valve and one outlet valve for each cylinder. The fuel-air mixture is formed with a downflow register carburetor type Weber 32 DCR. The ignition system works with a classic breaker contact . The motor has an output of 48 kW (measured according to the GOST standard) or 44 kW (measured according to the DIN standard). The engine transmits the torque to the rear wheels via a single-disc dry clutch , a four-speed gearbox and a cardan shaft.
