The Lada Nadezhda (WAS-2120) was the first minivan to be produced in Russia . From 1998 to 2006, AwtoWAS built the 7-seater model based on the long wheelbase Niwa . The Italian design studio and body construction company Vercarmodel Saro was responsible for the development and presented the first drafts in the spring of 1998. Designed for the condition of Russian roads, all-wheel drive was standard. In addition to a box van (utiliter) and a specially equipped taxi model, a pickup and a breakdown vehicle based on it were also planned. In addition, the minivan should also be available in a specially equipped office version and in a rear-wheel drive version with sliding doors. However, none of these models were implemented as the vehicle became a failure. The design was already criticized at the start of sales, which later led to a facelift. In addition, the price was too high compared to the Niva 5 door. The financial situation of AutoWAS at the time also led to poor part quality and a lack of investment and further development opportunities.

In total, only a little more than 8,000 units of the series were produced in the eight years of production, and with the advent of more and more foreign competitors, sales of the models were ended in 2007.

In addition to the design facelift, the original 1.8-liter carburettor engine with 80 hp was replaced by a 1.7-liter engine with intake manifold injection with 84 hp. Later this engine also had direct injection . The model was replaced by the Lada-Renault M90 .
