The WAS-2103 " Schiguli " ( Russian ВАЗ-2103 Жигули , English transcription VAZ-2103 ) is a sedan from AwtoWAS , which was produced from 1973 to 1984 in 1,304,866 copies and based on the Fiat 124 Special . In export, the model was called Lada 1500 .

It is the third model in the Schiguli model series after the WAS-2101 and WAS-2102 and was presented as the first AwtoWAS car at the New York Motor Show in January 1973 . The template for the WAS-2103 was provided by the Fiat 124 Special , so the WAS-2103 was not a facelift, but another Schiguli model. Its body is larger than the original model due to the slightly longer overhangs at the front and rear. The most striking external difference is the twin headlights, which were embedded in a chrome radiator grille. Chrome was also generously distributed throughout the vehicle. The dashboard consists of an imitation wood, in which all instruments are also enclosed. A red WAS-2103 was the millionth car to roll off the production line in Togliatti on December 21, 1973 . The drive in the WAS-2103 is taken over by a 1451 cm³ gasoline engine with an output of 56 kW (77 hp) according to DIN 70020; therefore the car got its name Lada 1500 on the export markets. This means that it reaches a top speed of 152 km / h with an acceleration of 17 seconds from 0-100 km / h. In addition, the 1.3-liter engine with 51 kW (69 hp) from the WAS-2101 1 was installed from the end of the year . In 1984 production was stopped and the WAS-2106, which was introduced in 1975, remained as the successor.
