Johann Gottlieb Seger

Johann Gottlieb Seger also: Seeger (born September 4, 1735 in Seifersbach ; † April 21, 1786 in Langenleuba ) was a German legal scholar .

Life

The son of pastor Karl Christoph Seger attended grammar school in Freiberg and studied at the University of Leipzig . After his studies he became court master of a Danish Count von Schulenburg and other nobles. In 1758 he acquired the academic degree of a master’s degree in Leipzig , received his doctorate in law in 1760 and became a private lecturer. In 1765 he became an associate professor of law and as such acted as a substitute for the code professor Friedrich Alexander Kühnhold (1693–1767).

After his death he became a full professor and assessor of the law faculty, rose to professor of the Pandects, was an assessor at the Court of Justice and member of the Royal Prussian Academy of Sciences in 1771 and canon at Naumburg Cathedral in 1782 . On March 30, 1772, Seger became a member of the Minerva Masonic Lodge for the Three Palms .

He also took part in organizational issues at the Leipzig University and was rector of the Alma Mater in the winter semester of 1771 .
