Johann Hamza

Johann Hamza (born June 21, 1850 in Teltsch , Moravia , † December 22, 1927 in Vienna ) was an Austrian painter .

biography

He was a student of the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts under Eduard von Engerth . Together with others he led Viennese genre painting to a second boom in the 1880s. He mostly painted small-format pictures with novelistic content. From 1888 he became a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus .

His son Hans Hamza (* January 21, 1879; † 1945) was also a painter, especially of still lifes .
