Johann Heinrich Carl Bornhardt

Johann Heinrich Carl Bornhardt (born March 18, 1774 in Braunschweig ; † July 19, 1843 there ) was a German composer , pianist, guitarist and music teacher.

Life

The childhood friend of the writer Klingemann worked full-time as a registrar at the senior medical school. He also worked as a music teacher in Braunschweig. As a piano and guitar virtuoso, he was known nationwide. In Braunschweig he performed his works in the "Music Lovers Society" founded in 1790. Bornhardt introduced the guitar in northern Germany. For this instrument he wrote a guitar school that was reissued several times.

The Bornhardtweg in Braunschweig is named after Bornhardt.

Works

He composed singing games, arrangements for piano and guitar and set the songs of Theodors Körner ("Leyer und Schwert") and works of German classical music, including those of Goethe and in particular Schiller (" Der Taucher ").
