Johann Heinrich von Geymüller the Younger
Johann Heinrich von Geymüller the Younger (born April 12, 1781 in Basel ; † January 19, 1848 there ), also Johann Heinrich von Geymüller-Falkner , was a Swiss banker .
Life
Johann Heinrich von Geymüller the Younger was born as the son of Ursula von Geymüller (born October 6, 1758 in Basel; † May 27, 1844 there), the sister of Johann Heinrich and Johann Jakob von Geymüller , and Peter Falkner.
He was the owner of Vöslau Castle , which he bought from Georg Simon von Sina . In 1833 he founded the Vöslauer worsted yarn factory with his two partners Carl Deahna and Emil Rhode . In 1841 , the Geymüller bank collapsed despite State Chancellor Metternich's rescue efforts . Geymüller had to leave Vienna and is said to have died in Basel as a clerk , i.e. as a simple trade clerk. He is often mistakenly viewed as a role model for Ferdinand Raimund's drama " The Spoilers ".
His son Heinrich von Geymüller (1839–1909) became known as an art and architecture historian .
