Johann Hellwege

Johann Hellwege (born March 26, 1940 in Neuenkirchen (Altes Land) ) is a German historian , university professor and politician ( CDU ).

Life

Johann Hellwege was born as the son of the entrepreneur and later Prime Minister of Lower Saxony, Heinrich Hellwege . After high school he studied history, he with the 1969 with the promotion of Dr. phil. finished (Dissertation: The Spanish Provincial Militias in the 18th Century ). After his habilitation he received a chair as professor of Iberian and Latin American History at the University of Bielefeld . He also acted as chief executive of the Federal Working Group of Medium and Large Enterprises in Retail . V. (BAG). Today (2008) Hellwege works as a freelance management consultant.

Hellwege joined the CDU and in January 1977 became managing director of the CDU's economic council . From 1980 to 1982 he was State Secretary in the Ministry of Federal Affairs and from 1982 to 1986 as State Secretary in the Ministry of Economics and Transport of Lower Saxony .
