Johann Hofer (born May 22, 1940 in Waizenkirchen ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and insurance salesman. Hofer was a member of the National Council from 1983 to 1994 .

Life

After primary school, Hofer attended grammar school in the Petrinum College in Linz . From 1955 to 1964 he worked as a farm worker in his parents' business. Between 1965 and 1976 Hofer worked as the main district party secretary of the ÖVP for the districts of Grieskirchen and Eferding. From 1976 he was employed as a regional manager at the Upper Austrian Insurance Company . Between 1995 and 1998 he was regional director at this company before he was responsible for key account management from 1998 to 2000 as a director (authorized representative).

Political career

Politically, Hofer was initially active in local politics. He was district chairman of the young ÖVP in the districts of Grieskirchen-Eferding from 1969 to 1973. From 1973 to 1991 he was a member of the Prambachkirchen municipal council and was also a member of the municipal council until 1984. From 1979 to 1984 he held the post of Vice Mayor. Hofer was also district party chairman of the ÖVP Eferding between 1977 and 1995. Since 1995 he has been honorary district chairman of ÖVP Eferding. From 1972 to 1989 he was chairman of the community group ÖAAB- Prambachkirchen. Between May 19, 1983 and November 6, 1994 he represented the ÖVP in the National Council.
