Johann Huntemann

Johann Huntemann (born January 20, 1858 in Moorkamp near Delmenhorst, † July 30, 1934 in Wildeshausen near Oldenburg ) was a German agriculture teacher , business consultant and author of specialist books .

Live and act

Johann (Jan) Huntemann, son of a farmer, attended the secondary school in Delmenhorst and from 1873 to 1875 the teachers' college in Oldenburg. He then taught at several elementary schools for over a decade. During his free time he researched the native meadow and pasture plants and dealt with agricultural issues. From 1892 he studied agriculture at the University of Halle and at the Agricultural University in Berlin . From 1894 to 1925 he headed the agricultural school in Wildeshausen. At the same time he worked as a business consultant.

Huntemann has propagated the advantages of modern farming methods through his more than thirty years as a teacher , consultant , lecturer and book author . Above all, he advocated converting bog and heather areas into pasture and arable land through green manure and the application of mineral fertilizers . He accorded plant protection a high priority in agriculture . From 1905 he headed a newly created plant protection office in Oldenburg. Huntemann was considered an agricultural authority in the Oldenburg area. In 1916 he received the title of economics councilor , and in 1919 he was awarded the badge of honor of the Oldenburg Chamber of Agriculture .
